Bill Todt's 1929 Ford Model A
Return to Restoration Index Page

Bill Todt is only the second owner of this 1929 Tudor (two door) sedan. It was originally purchase from Gillespie Ford when they were located on Broadway in San Antonio on September 27, 1929 for a grand total of $724.06, the equivalent of $9,735.04 in today's money. The buyer put down $232.06, just under a third, and make 12 payments of $41 to pay off the rest, a total of $492.00. The car is essentially in original condition. It was repainted in almost exactly the original color around 1970 after Bill had owned it for a few years. Its upholstery was redone around the same time. Other than that, and an addition or two, such as turn indicators, its all original. That includes the engine, the transmission and the suspension.

Maintenance work at Jay Pearcy's Model A shop

As good as any Model A is, none can be run indefinitely without some regular maintenance. Owners should learn to perform regular greasing schedules and other basic activities, but, sooner or later, the vehicle will need to be worked on more seriously. Bill drives his Ford Model A a great deal and things will wear out eventually. In the case of the images below, Bill trusted Jay Pearcy to get his brakes working in tip-top fashion again.
